The first county to seek Protected Designation of Origin status, Sussex has long been associated with sparkling wine. With still wines from the county now also showing very well, we will take you on a tour of the interesting array of flavours, styles and varieties coming from our neighbouring region.

“It’s A Family Affair” – Family Growers 13th July 6.30-8pm

Family is at the heart of many of England’s vineyards, from multi-generational landowners to newer boutique producers. With fabulous wines as their calling cards, we will explore the ways in which families are making their mark individually and collectively, and how the ecosystem which has grown up to support small growers is enabling them to get the very best from their fruit. We’ll taste some lovely wines this evening as we look across the range of styles.

Whoever knew that we could produce so much Pinot in Kent. This tasting will take you across a journey of just how important the pinot grape family has become, from 2 sparkling wines to 4 different variations of still wine to be enjoyed. Indulge in a Blanc de Noirs, discover a Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris and end up with a red Pinot Noir. We may even throw in a Pinot Noir Rosé!

Travel along the Pilgrim’s Way and discover the vineyards along the route. From the Surrey Hills all the way to Canterbury, we will be stopping off to taste a range of still and sparkling wines. If only all those Pilgrims had such sustenance to keep them going!

Discover beautiful local wines, all coming from vineyards within 10 miles of Canterbury. The tasting will include two sparkling wines, a rosé, two whites and a red, providing an insight to the wide variety of wine produced on our doorstep. As Chaucer quoted: “strong was the wine and pleasant to each guest” (Canterbury Tales; Prologue) - it seems that not much has changed, apart from maybe the strength of the wine!
