Biddenden Gamay

Biddenden Gamay

£29.00

The Biddenden estate needs little introduction to the drinkers of Corkk’s selection. The vineyard, the longest running winery in Kent, lies in the High Weald region just to the north west of the pretty town of Tenterden. The land is gently rolling with clay and loam over Tonbridge sand which affords good drainage but some water retention.

We were fortunate enough to take the Gamay 2018 and have just received the latest allocation of the 2020. The wine was released on the 14th of March and is a really silky smooth, fruit filled beauty. It does not have the weight of the 2018 but delivers loads of flavours red cherry bonbon, blackcurrant and a tutti-fruity character. The wine is till young and will , undoubtedly fill out but I think many drinkers will drink this wine in in abundantly juicy youth. It works on its own, especially in the warmth of an early spring evening or with a platter of cheeses and cold meats. For those who enjoy a lightly spice curry this would work a treat!
