We are absolutely thrilled to be working with “The Wine Garden of England”. The Wine Garden is made up of 7 of Kent’s most prestigious vineyards, 6 of which are currently producing wine, with Domaine Evremond expected to do so in the next couple of years. For this case we thought we should showcase a few of our favourite Still Wines from three Garden of England vineyards. You will be tasting Simpsons Derringstone Pinot Meunier 2019, Biddenden Dornfelder 2019 and Balfour Hush Heath Springfield Chardonnay 2018. A mouth watering selection!

Balfour Hush Heath Springfield Chardonnay 2018: This fabulous Chardonnay from the superb 2018 vintage is clean and bright with a long finish, displaying the mineral notes of lime and salt. Fermented in cool stainless steel, it is then partly aged in French and American Oak to add depth and complexity to the flavour, resulting in an intense yet elegant wine. As a food pairing, oysters, pan fried fish and green salad would be superb dishes to go with this excellent example of an English Chardonnay.

Biddenden Dornfelder 2019: Off dry, light refreshing red, raspberry and summer fruit flavours - an incredibly good value English red wine. Fresh raspberries and summer fruits abound in this refreshing, light red wine. An ideal accompaniment to Slow Braised Beef Cheeks. A dish of this richness and beefiness will need a red fruit wine to deliver that warming ripe punch and the Biddenden Dornfelder 2019 has plenty of brambly fruit to do just that. A slow cooked meat such as this has melt in the mouth meat so a softer, rounder wine will be perfect and the gentle tannins of the Dornfelder will be perfect. It will also go well with Mediterranean style meals.

Simpsons Derringstone Pinot Meunier 2019: This English still wine is created from exclusively estate grown and hand picked Pinot Meunier grapes, this intriguing and truly unique ‘blanc de noirs’ was carefully vinified as a white wine. The Derringstone Pinot Meunier displays chalk purity and sweet and savoury aromas of poached winter fruit. Complex balsamic nuances and red fruit flavours finish with a deliciously creamy mouth-feel.
